Austria pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai

AUSTRIAN PAVILION

In an age in which information is ubiquitous, it’s easy to find quick answers. The difficult part, however, is asking the right questions.

The Austrian pavilion “in dialogue with austria” offers the necessary space to enter into dialogue with the most important questions about a shared and brighter future.

"The winning project by querkraft architekten stands out because of its distinctive architectural qualities, both in terms of its exterior appearance and in terms of the possibilities for interior design. The deliberate sensual character of the architecture creates attractive possibilities for interdisciplinary cooperation with artists and designers from other disciplines."

Guinea pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai... The Logo !

Take a look to the nice logo of Guinea pavilion :

Guinea Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai - UAE
A dancing woman, a wise old man, a mermaid, a Baga mask, you have been numerous on social networks to share with us your conjectures on the meaning of the logo chosen for the participation of Guinea in the Dubai World Expo in 2020.
Encouraging reflection and encouraging discussion are the two desired reactions through the development of our logo. The inspirations behind his concept were numerous:

Water, the central axis of the Guinean pavilion
From the ocean to the rivers, mangrove swamps, and the spectacular Fouta waterfalls, water is ubiquitous in Guinea. With more than 4000 mm of precipitation per year, the country's landscapes are marked by a diversity of aquatic environments. The different wave shapes in the logo evoke water.

Cultural wealth
Water in Guinea has several myths, symbols and traditions. A deity whose name differs according to region, Ningi-Nengé, Fato, Ninkinnanka is often associated with the spirit of water. Protector of rivers, announcing rain, purveyor of wealth, this mythological figure is the most representative of the spiritual bond that Guineans have maintained with water. The animal that repetitively represents her across the country, regardless of race, is the snake. The logo represents a flat-headed snake, in reference to the Baga snake, mask mostly known by African art lovers.

Traditional textile
The choice of colors and pattern is inspired by traditional Guinean textiles. A dyeing method, varying between deep blue and light blue is specific to the Fouta region. The coloring of these cotton fabrics is obtained by the plant lepi, specific to the average Guinea. The pattern is inspired by visible patterns on some of the dyed fabrics, such as Kindili, Lepi, or Batik.

The circle
The circle reflects the cycle of water as well as the notions of movement, renewal and inclusion. Capitalizing on its human capital, youth is at the heart of preparations for Guinea's participation in the exhibition. In a laboratory approach, a set of projects will be developed to expose the current dynamics of national transformation in Dubai.

The ascent
The ascensional shape of the snake highlights the current commitment of Guinea to move forward in the construction of the Vision Guinea Vision 2040. At the exhibition, the country will present a set of concrete achievements showing potential investors that the future is at hand. Without knowing it, by creating this logo, the Guinea team has strengthened its links with the organizers of the Dubai Exhibition. The Dubai Expo 2020 logo is inspired by a gold ring, one of the recently discovered historical artefacts on the archaeological site of Saruq Al-Hadid. On this site, archaeological objects representing snakes have also been discovered, suggesting a cult of the snake. For these ancient civilizations, the snake would have been a symbol of fertility, water and protection (source: https://www.visitdubai.com/en/articles/dubai-ancient-history-of-great-trade-economy).

Dutch pavilion Website, to learn more !!!

The Dutch pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai
The Dutch wouldn’t be the Dutch if they didn’t choose to do things their own way. The Dutch pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai is more of a biotope than a building. This circular climate installation, developed collaboratively by a team of four architecture and engineering firms, will embody the theme of the Netherlands’ multi-year campaign in the Gulf region. This campaign – Dutch Dubai – focuses on connections on every level.

https://dutchdubai.com/

Connecting water, energy and food
We all know that water, energy and food can’t exist without each other. Or to put it another way: if these sectors work together in the right way, magic can happen. As the second-largest exporter of agricultural products in the world, we know what this kind of intersectoral collaboration can bring a country and, more importantly, its people. Even in a desert climate, we can create a system where inhabitants can produce their own water, energy and food. Our unique pavilion, which is a circular climate installation offering an interactive experience, is a reflection of this kind of partnership.

Reducing our footprint
To minimise the footprint of our interactive ecosystem, the pavilion will be built with local resources and locally rented building materials. The interior will also include some rented elements. Once Expo 2020 Dubai is over, all materials will be re-purposed or returned to parties in the region.

Connecting innovation, knowledge and experience
Becoming more self-sustaining is important with a world population that keeps on growing. At the same time, resources are becoming more fragile and scarce. Global issues such as water scarcity, food security and rising demand for energy have a particularly serious impact on the Middle East. Gulf countries tend to consume more water and energy per capita than many other parts of the world, and the majority of the region’s food is imported. Expo 2020 Dubai offers an exciting opportunity to drive positive change. This is where the Netherlands is eager to contribute. Dutch innovation, knowledge and experience can play a positive role in transformation. Not only in the Gulf, but around the world.

Connecting minds
Dubai Dutch is all about making meaningful connections.
When it comes to connecting businesses, knowledge institutions, governments and social organisations, the Dutch pavilion will function as an interactive installation. It will become a meeting point and networking hub for everyone at Expo 2020 Dubai: a place to connect with visitors from all over the world who are keen to experience something new.

About the makers
The consortium behind the Dutch Dubai Biotope consists of four partners: V8 Architects, Expomobilia, Kossmann.deJong and Witteveen+Bos. All of them have experience and networks in the Gulf region. To pave the way for new generations, the consortium is working with multiple Dutch innovative start-ups and companies, in order to provide them with the platform they deserve.

Sweden pavilion at the World Expo 2020 in Dubai :

The winning architectural proposal for the Swedish pavilion at the World Exhibition in Dubai 2020 has now been appointed and was today presented by Minister for Enterprise and Innovation Mikael Damberg and the General Commissioner for Sweden's participation in Expo 2020, the chairman of the competition jury, Anders Lönnberg.

In the spring of 2018, the Committee for Sweden's participation in the World Expo 2020 exhibition in Dubai invited an architect and design team to a competition for the design of Sweden's pavilion and exhibition in Expo 2020. The competition was arranged in collaboration with the Swedish Architects.

Swedish creativity is recognized internationally and Swedish architecture is at the forefront. All competition entries showed absolutely top class but in the end the jury was able to agree on the contribution "The Forest".

- The architectural team consisting of Stockholm-based Alessandro Ripellino Architects, Studio Adrien Gardère and Luigi Pardo Architetti has created a proposal that unites a strong concept with architectural qualities and functional requirements, says Anders Flanking, chairman of the Swedish committee.

Alessandro Ripellino from Alessandro Ripellino Architects describes the contribution:
- The Forest is based on the idea of the vastness of the forest and the free walking. The forest has been used as a metaphor in everything from the architectural approach to the exhibition's dramaturgy, with rooms inspired by glades, huts and tree crowns. The Swedish pavilion becomes an open space for reflection that favors imagination, creativity and co-creation. An imaginative meeting between Nordic forest and Arabic pattern effect, between our culture and the culture we visit.

Participation at Expo 2020 is one of Sweden's largest export investments over the next few years. Participation is jointly financed by state and industry.

- Participation at Expo 2020 gives Swedish companies the opportunity to reach out to customers not only in the gulf area but all over the world. At Expo 2020, Swedish companies will be able to showcase their world-leading sustainability solutions and fantastic innovation power, says EU and Trade Minister Ann Linde.

Two of the companies that will participate are Ericsson and Astra Zeneca.

- We see Expo 2020 as an excellent opportunity to showcase Ericsson's innovation power and our 5G technology for a global audience. 5G will play a major role in the digitization of society and industry and to meet the sustainability challenges facing the world. For Ericsson it is also
important to work with other Swedish stakeholders to promote Sweden as a knowledge nation and strengthen the attractiveness of research and innovation, ”says Helena Norrman, information director at Ericsson.

- For us, the Swedish pavilion represents a credible platform for lifting the opportunities for how sustainable health can look in the future. We look forward to developing discussions, meetings and co-creation around our attractive pavilion, says Katarina Ageborg, CEO of AstraZeneca AB.
