Welcome to issue three of Hello 2020. This month Hello 2020 explores the key role played by transportation and logistics – one of the UAE Expo bid sub-themes – in today’s globalised economy.

Leading the debate is guest contributor Dr John D Kasarda who coined the word ‘aerotropolis’ to describe a combination of super-airport, planned city, shipping facility and business hub. The aerotropolis, he says, will be pivotal to the next phase of globalisation and he explains how the UAE fits the description, serving as a dynamic hub that enables the movement of goods and services between all corners of the world.
