Thousand come out to see Expo 2020’s new logo

Viewer say they are impressed by logo and the story behind it

Dubai: Thousands of awe-struck people watching the giant screens broke out in cheers as the new Expo 2020 logo was revealed at Dubai Fountain.

Visitors were glued to the screen, taking videos, pictures and selfies as the logo was displayed on the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower.

Many said the logo was impressive in itself but what made it even more appealing was the story behind it.

Pakistani logo designer Syed Jafar Rizvi, 34, who had submitted his work in the logo competition, said the surprise logo was simple and effective.

“Its interlocking rings, which make up the ring as a whole, reflects the “connecting minds” tag line. Also I feel the rings of various shapes symbolize the different ideas that will come together at the Expo,” Rizvi added.

Canadian expat Alexander said the story of the unearthing of the ring and how it lent inspiration to the logo was “beautiful and made sense”.

Another admirer, Egyptian expat Amar Hamed, 35, said he was “drawn into the logo by its rich warm colour and circles within circles”.

The event attracted thousands of people who enjoyed the live screening of the proceedings as well as the water and fireworks show especially put together to compliment the announcements.

Short clips about the logo competition and archaeological discovery were also shown.

United Arab Emirates at Shanghai Expo 2010

In recent days, the site of Dubai 2020 is online, it takes the contents of the booklet we received on November 23 at the 150th General Assembly of the BIE.
For now, no new informations.
Registered last, Dubai and the Emirates have certainly a lot of work to prepare following the application.
Five candidates, only Izmir in Turkey and Ayutthaya in Thailand is well underway on the project, but are already registered at the Bureau International des Expositions since more 6 months!

In the meantime, I propose to return in 2010, specifically to the Shanghai Expo, and how the UAE were represented in what may be called for greater World Expo of all time!
For the UAE have their history of Expos, though of course it is much more recent, like their nation.

The UAE Pavilion at Shanghai Expo was located in Zone A, closest to the main entrance of the Expo. He was surrounded by flags of Turkmenistan, Morocco and Qatar.

The theme of the pavilion was a real and beautiful invitation ... Power of Dreams!

The design of the pavilion is inspired by the fabulous dunes in the desert to reflect the natural and urban landscapes varied and beautiful of the UAE. The exterior of the pavilion is gold-colored stainless steel. Its undulating roof, as if it had been shaped by wind, resulting in a shimmering pavilion whose colors change with light. It reminds visitors of different countries natural environments in the Middle East.

A film diffuses inside the pavilion on a widescreen a clip entitled "Instant in the blink of an eye." This film presents the major cities of dramatic changes since the founding of the UAE.

Here are some pictures of this building, particularly neat and valuable, where the reception was very friendly and nice. A great memory!
